At the start the play the audienceare is lead to believe that this team worked very well together. Enough to over come thier underdog status to become state champions. However as the play goes on it is revealed that they have all harmed and dmaged each other through various means, which culminates in the revelation that they cheated to gain the trophy.
The cues tell that story about how much this game meant to them and helps describe their decent into troubles.
